But Why?

It is a good question. It is also the key question that Stirling and Eugene use to critique their approaches, strategies and recommendations delivered by AND OR. Therefore it seemed only fitting that when they released their podcast in early 2026 the title included this question. But Why? A Design Podcast was released in January 2026.

After many years talking about writing a book, really just to document learnings and frustrations we have gathered over time, we decided that a podcast is a bit easier… less editing and no need for a publisher.

Design is in the title and that is because this is what we specialise in but also because design concerns pretty much everything. That means that we talk about a wide variety of things and as we progress beyond season one the diversity of conversations will become more prevalent,

What’s the point?. This is another critical question you will hear each each episode and that is because this is not intended to be a ‘waffle without intent and action’. We aim to ensure that each episode is valueable and sees our listeners rewarded for the time they spend with us.

The conversations are not scripted, polished or performative. They are honest, exploratory and occasionally uncomfortable. Some episodes are interviews. Others are reflections. All are anchored in the belief that better questions lead to better outcomes.

But Why? A Design Podcast is for designers and non-designers alike. Find our episodes on Substack and all leading podcast platforms.
